MON, 6/5/17:

The GETdetroitsports.com softballers bounced back from their lone
season loss and two bye weeks with an 18-3 rout of Hydro King.
Our boys scored nine runs in each of the first two innings when the
game was halted by the umpire due to verbal altercations and the threat
of violence by the H-King catcher, who grabbed two bats but curiously
was not suspended by the league.
Technically a forfeit, the league still recorded the 18-3 score.  ASA
rules state that all individual stats except a win for the pitcher are
official.
    Mike Newcomb was 2-for-2 with a walk, double, homer, 2-R & 3-RBI.
Jake Page was also 2-for-2 with 2-R & 3-RBI.  Brandon Chappell had a
3-run homerun.

M, 6/12/17:

With Coach Kurt in hospital, MGR Erik managed to guide the squad to a
14-13 win over Detroit Drafts.
The GETdetroitsports.com team survived a 9-R/B-2nd by the enemy that
made the score 11-1 before posting a comeback victory to stay in first place.
With the hammer in the last inning, the Draftsmen went out 1-2-3.
Leadoff man Greg Hoobler went 3-for-4 with 2-R and Mike Newcomb was
2-for-4 with 3-R & 3-RBI.  Jake Page went 2-for-2 plus a walk with 1-R and a

The Gds.com team came back from a 10-7/Mid-4th deficit to earn a
16-13 win over The Hub to maintain first place in the division by a half
game over DeWalt (6-1 v 5-1).
A 5-R/B-5th put our heroes ahead 13-10 and each team scored a trio
of runs in the 6th-INN before The Hub went out in order in the T-7th.
Jake Page led the offense by going 2-for-4 with a double, triple, 2-R &
6-RBI.  Brandon Proffer was 2-for-4 with 2-R & 3-RBI.
The scorekeepers recorded no errors for either side.

M, 6/26/17:

The Silver Snakes informed the league office about 4pm they wouldn't
be able to field a team for the late game at 9:55pm.  The umpires were
told of the no-show but the Gds.com squad wasn't, meaning all our guys
either learned of the cancellation once they made the late night drive to
the field or were en route.
The forfeit win and a DeWalt loss to TLC 17-14 boosted our first place
lead to a game and a half in the division (7-1 v 5-2).
As is customary, all players scheduled in the lineup receive credit for
a game played.

M, 7/10/17:

Coach Kurt returned from sick bay but became ill again when our boys
blew a 14-5/End-3rd lead to drop an 18-17 contest to DeWalt, stopping
our 4-game winning streak.
The turning point was a 10-R/T-5th where DeWalt had 7-H & 3-W while
the Gds.com defense committed three physical errors and a couple of
mental ones.
DeWalt scored three times in the T-6th and our lads 2-R in the B-6th
before the game was halted by time limit.
The enemy defense executed its fourth double play of the contest to
end the game.
The middle of our lineup provided most of the punch.  Mike Newcomb
was 3-for-4 with 3-R & 5-RBI, Harry Penczak 3-for-3 plus a walk with 1-R
& 4-RBI and Jake Page 2-for-3 with a  walk, double and 3-RBI.
This decision and a 15-5 TLC victory vs Detroit Drafts has log-jammed
the top of the division standings coming down the home stretch.  The
GETdetroitsports.com team is still on top at 7-2, second place DeWalt is
a half game back at 6-2 and third place TLC is one game off the pace
at 6-3.
