Using a lineup of four back-ups and the rest minor leaguers to make
sure his team headed north healthy, MGR Ron Gardenhire's Tigers beat
the Tampa Bay Rays 2-1 Tuesday afternoon in the exhibition finale for
both teams.

In a game played at T-Bay's regular season home, the domed Tropicana
Field, because it's close to the airport, Matthew Boyd had a solid last tune-
up start on the mound for Detroit.  The lefty went 5-IP to yield 1-R/1-ER
on 2-H & 2-W with 7-K.

Tampa Bay took the early lead when Wilson Ramos doubled home Kevin
Kiermaier from 1Base with 2-out/B-1st.

Detroit tied and went ahead in a 2-R/T-7th when Christin Stewart singled-
in fellow prospect Daz Cameron, then two more TigerTowners combined
as Kam Gibson doubled home Jake Rogers.  The runs came off Rays closer
Alex Colome (L, 1-2).

Victor Alcantara worked a perfect B-6th with 1-K for the win (1-0).  Louis
Coleman tossed two scoreless frames.  Paul Voelker loaded the bases on 1-H,
1-W & 1-HBP in the B-9th but struck-out the side for the save (#2).

The Tigers concluded Grapefruit LGE action with a 13-15-5 record.

The Tigers will finalize their 25-man roster Wednesday in advance
of Thursday's Opening Day vs Pittsburgh at Comerica Park.

      DET       2-5-0, 3-LOB       (W) Alcantara, 1-0;  (S) Voelker, #2
      TBR       1-4-0, 7-LOB       (L) Colome, 1-2
