    Michigan defeated in-state
rival Central Michigan 72-65
Monday night.

Off a 10-1 run into the locker

slimmest possible lead of 32-31
at halftime.  Michigan gradually pulled away after intermission.  A Charles
Matthews steal and dunk made it 62-53 with 4-mins remaining and a Zavier
Simpson 3-pointer put the score at 67-58 with 2-mins left.

An early 9-0 Chippewas surge gave CMU an 11-3 advantage, the first
of four 8-P margins for the Chips in the opening half.

     Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman scored 17-P for Michigan.  Matthews &
Simpson each added 13-P.  Moritz Wagner had 10-P with 11-RB.  Duncan
Robinson also totaled 10-P as all five UofM starters scored in double digits.

Central was led by the game-high 21-P of Shawn Roundtree, who went
7-of-11 shooting including 4-of-6 from 3-point range.  Luke Meyer had 12-P.

Michigan became 2-0 and Central 1-1.
