In a series dominated by the
longball, five more homers were
featured Thursday afternoon as
the Tigers took the rubber game
of the 3-game set with Baltimore
by a 6-5 score.

The teams combined for 14 homeruns in the series.

The Tigers were trailing 3-0/B-3rd when J.D. Martinez tied the contest
with one swat of the bat, blasting a 3rHR (#5, 3rd of series) to the CField
side of the visitors bullpen.

Victor Martinez crushed a 2rHR (#3, 2nd of series) well into the RCField
seats in the B-5th to put Detroit ahead a second time 5-4.

What proved to be the deciding run was scored later with 1-out in the
B-5th.  Alex Avila sliced double to the LField wall that scored Justin Upton
from 1Base.

The Orioles instantly went ahead in the T-1st on a Chris Davis 2rHR (#9,
3rd of series) to the tarp atop the RField tunnel.

The Birds also had solo shots by Adam Jones (#6) in the T-5th and Seth
Smith (#4) in the T-7th.  Baltimore's other run was via Smith's RBI single
in the T-2nd.
Tiger starter Jordan Zimmermann scratched through 6-IP to give up
4-R/4-ER and get the win (4-2).  Fourth Tiger pitcher Alex Wilson worked
a perfect T-9th for the save (#2).

O's RHP Dylan Bundy gave up a career-high 6-R/6-ER to take the
loss (5-2) in his 23rd big league start.

Two consecutive wins put the Tigers back over .500 again at 20-19.

      BAL       5-8-0, 4-LOB       (L) Bundy, 5-2
      DET       6-8-0, 6-LOB      (W) Zimmermann, 4-2;  (S) A. Wilson, #2

    J.D. Martinez was 4-for-7 with 3-HR & 8-RBI and 8-W/2-IW in the series.
Tiger 1Bman Miguel Cabrera missed a second consecutive game with
a strained left oblique.  It's expected Miggy will be idled through the weekend.
Detroit DH Victor Martinez will miss the weekend series vs Texas.  V-Mart
will be placed on the paternity list as his wife is expecting their third child,
a girl.
RHP Buck Farmer will be recalled from Toledo to replace Victor Martinez
on the roster.
