@ KITCHENER, ONT:

The Whalers avoided a first round playoff collapse and eliminated
the Rangers in deciding game seven by a 4-2 score Monday night in
Kitchener.
The Whalers led the series 2-0 and 3-1 before Kitchener won games five and six by switching to
back-up goalie Mike Morrison. With Morrison in net again Monday Plymouth took a 2-0/2nd-Per   lead,
but the Rangers battled back to tie 2-all by 14:01/3.
Tyler G. Brown fed James Livingston (#2) at 16:56/3 to put Plymouth ahead to stay. Brown then
got the empty net clincher at 19:58/3.
Whalers DEF Michael Whaley, who had just one goal per season for each of his three OHL seasons
(the first two with Windsor), started the scoring for Plymouth at 9:21/2. Robbie Czarnik made it
2-0 for the Whalers at 14:51/2.
Gabriel Landeskog (#6, a PPG) at 5:17/3 and Jerry D'Amigo (#6) at 14:01/3 gave the Rangers
the tie and a chance.
Plymouth goalie Scott Wedgewood made 37-SV and Morrison had 29-SV.
The Whalers open second round action at top OHL Western Conference seed Owen Sound
Thursday night.
