With just one win in the first two weeks of the OHL season the
Plymouth Whalers needed a laughter to break out of their slump.
They got one Thursday night in Peterborough with a 7-0 pummeling of the Petes.
Shots-on-goal were pretty even at 37-34 favoring the visitors, but the Whalers scored
three times in the opening period and four more in the second before a scoreless final frame.
Only one of the Whalers goals was on the power play, one came shorthanded and the
other five were at even strength.
Tyler Brown (#3) scored just 24-sec in to the contest and Jamie Devane (#2) made it 2-0
with a PPG at 2:38/1.
    Devane later scored (#4) again. Alex Aleardi (#8) and R.J. Mahalek (#1) both had 1-G & 2-A.
Stefan Noesen (#3) notched 1-G & 1-A. Peter Neal (#3) had the final Plymouth goal while killing
off a penalty. Beau Schmitz had a trio of assists for Plymouth.
Scott Wedgewood made 34-SV to record his first shutout of the season and third of his OHL
career (29-GP, many in relief, over three seasons).
The Whalers chased Petes starting goaler Andrew D'Agostini at 4:59/2 with 5-GA on 19-SOG.
Keinan Brown went the rest of the way in nets for Peterborough with 2-GA and 16-SV.
Plymouth is now 2-3-0-1 in the early going. Peterborough is 1-5 in a similar six outings.
