@ JOE LOUIS ARENA:

The Penguins blitzed veteran Detroit netminder
Chris Osgood with a trio of 1st-Per goals en route
to a 5-2 exhibition finale decision Sunday evening.
The Red Wings skated their regulars with only two
rookies in the lineup.
Former Michigan Wolverine Mike Comrie scored
twice and Evgeni Malkin had a goal plus three assists
for Pittsburgh.
Comrie's power play goal at 19:46/1 gave the Pens a comfortable 3-1 lead. Comrie
had 4-G & 1-A in four exhibition outings this fall. Malkin had 3-G & 3-A in 4-GP.
Pavel Datsyuk scored on a snapshot at 10:46/1 and assisted on a and Mike Modano
backhander (Modano's first goal as a Red Wing) at 3:22/3 for the two Detroit tallies.
Osgood made 20-SV and Marc-Andre Fleury 22-SV in the Pittsburgh goal, both playing
the entire game.
Chris Kunitz and Alex Goligowski both had a goal with an assist for Pittsburgh.
The Red Wings lost their last two pretend games to finish the pre-season 3-5. The
Penguins have a 5-1 mark including two wins over the Wings.

QUOTEBOOK...

R-WINGS H-COACH MIKE BABCOCK:    "I thought it was real disappointing. I thought [Pittsburgh]
were better and quicker and worked harder and competed harder...We know we have a pretty
good lineup. Obviously, we got to play a lot better and a lot harder than we did here and we
expect that's going to happen. We got to put this behind us and get ready to play because this
isn't a positive note...You can't fault Ozzie on the goals. They back-doored him. The first two
they just knocked out of the air and banged in the net."'

R-WINGS GOALIE CHRIS OSGOOD:    "I would have liked to let in less goals in the exhibition
[schedule]. Saying that, I feel real good, ahead of where I was last year...I got a lot of shots,
a lot of action in all the games I played. I feel like I'm moving real good and going in the right
direction and ready to go.''

OVERTIME:

Osgood saw his first game action in eight days due to a minor charley horse. Backstopping
Detroit which iced mostly minor leaguers in his first two starts, Osgood was 0-3 with a 5.28-GAA
in the pre-season.
Justin Abdelkader, who played Saturday night at Toronto, was a healthy Detroit scratch.
Also out with minor injuries were Todd Bertuzzi (back), Kris Draper (groin) and Patrick Eaves
(ankle).
Capt. Sidney Crosby (hip flexor) and DEF Brooks Orpik (groin) sat out injured for Pittsburgh.
Orpik kneed Johan Franzen and fought with Bertuzzi when Detroit visited Pittsburgh in the
exhibition opener for both squads.
Detroit hired former Red Wings and Griffins enforcer Aaron Downey as a part-time strength
and conditioning coach for their Grand Rapids farm team.
There were no surprises when the Wings assigned a dozen players to AHL Grand Rapids on
Sunday: F Joakim Andersson, F Willie Coetzee, F Corey Emmerton, D Brian Lashoff, G Thomas
McCollum, F Chris Minard, F Jordan Owens, F Frances Pare, D Logan Pyett, D Brendan Smith,
F Jamie Tardif and F Tomas Tatar.
