@ WINDSOR, ONT:

A 3-goal third period allowed the Spitfires to fly by the Whalers 5-4 Thursday night in
the OHL regular season opener for both teams.
The Whalers took a 4-1 lead by 12:51/2 on the strength of a Hat Trick by Alex Aleardi, a
Farmington Hills, MICH native and Compuware Youth program alum who was acquired just
Tuesday in a trade with the Belleville Bulls (for a pair of future draft choices). Aleardi scored
once shorthanded and twice on the power play.
The defending Memorial Cup Champion Spits began their comeback at 15:58/2 on a goal by
Alexander Khoklachev. Windsor then scored three unanswered goals in the 3rd-Per. The first
two were by   Zack McQueen, one with the man advantage, to deadlock the game at 4-all by
3:27/3. Michael MacIntyre then scored his second power play goal of the game at 15:59/3 to
give Windsor the win.
Tyler Brown had Plymouth's other goal, a PPG.
Plymouth's Matt Mahalek made 17-SV on 22-SOG in his OHL nets debut. Port Huron, MICH
native Jack Campbell was in goal for the Spitfires and made 27-SV.
The Whalers conclude their two-game season opening road trip at London Friday night,
then return to host Barrie Saturday evening in Plymouth's home debut.
