@ WINDSOR, ONT:

The Spitfires took a commanding 3-0 second round
playoff series lead as the Spits beat the Whalers 5-0
Monday night.
German-born goaltender Philipp Grubauer only had to
make 16-SV in posting his first career OHL post-season shutout. Grubauer is 7-0 in the playoffs and
20-1-1-1 overall since being acquired via trade from Belleville and taking over starting goalie duties
from Windsor incumbent Troy Passingham.
Dale Mitchell (#5 & #6) scored the first and last Windsor goals, his second on the power play.
Ryan Ellis had a goal (#2, a PPG) and two assists. It was the second straight two-goal game for
Mitchell and the second consecutive three point game by Ellis.
Adam Henrique (#5) and Scott Wellwood (#3) notched the other Spitfire tallies.
The Spits scored once in the first, once in the second and three times in the 3rd-Per where
a parade of penalties allowed Windsor to blow the game open by scoring their last two courtesy of
the power play. The Whalers were whistled for 15 infractions totaling 33-mins and Windsor had 13
penalties for 26-min, 17 of the 28 misdeeds coming in the final period.
Whalers goalie Matt Hackett  made 31-SV on 36-SOG before being assessed a match penalty
and game misconduct  at 18:00/3. Scott Wedgewood  replaced Hackett and faced no Windsor shots
in his 2-mins of PT.
Windsor is in a position for a possible series sweep in Wednesday's game four at Compuware Arena
in Plymouth.
