Dale Mitchell scored twice and Ryan Ellis
collected three assists as Windsor beat the
Whalers 5-3 Saturday night.
Windsor outshot Plymouth 56-26 and now
leads the OHL second round playoff series 2-0.
The close contest wasn't decided until Adam
Henrique (#4) notched an empty-net goal at 19:04/3.
Mitchell (#3) started the game's scoring on feeds from Henrique and Ellis at 11:45/1. It only
took Plymouth 10-sec to tie at 1-all on a Ryan Hayes (#6) goal off a pass from A.J. Jenks. At
2:52/2 Jenks (#3) gave the Whalers their only lead, 2-1.
Less than a minute after Jenks put lymouth on top, Scott Wellwood (#2) tied it 2-2 for Windsor
at 3:47/2 to start a spurt of three consecutive Spits goals. The game's only power play goal by
Taylor Hall (#9) at 6:28/2 put the Spitfires aheads for good.
Mitchell (#4) of Windsor at 5:05/3 and Jenks (#4) of Plymouth at 9:51/3 then each got their
second goals of the game.
Hot hand Philipp Grubauer made 23-SV in the Windsor nets while a much busier Matt Hackett
made 51-SV for the Whalers.
