Tied 1-1 after one period, the Whalers

The Whalers eliminated the Greyhounds from

four straight wins that followed a first game surprise.
The teams traded tallies in the opening frame when Ryan Hayes (#4) scored just 44-sec into the
contest for Plymouth and former Whaler Myles McCauley (#2) countered for The Soo on a power play
at 6:42/1.
A.J. Jenks (#2) broke it open for the Whalers at 15:24/2, then assisted on the first of two
consecutive goals by Phil McRae (#5 & #6) at 19:35/2 and 5:15/3.
Brandon Archibald (#1) brought the Greyhounds within 4-2 at 13:43/3. Plymouth then
wrapped it up on late goals by Tyler Brown (#2, unassisted) at 17:52/3 and Josh Brittain (#1,
an ENG) at 18:46/3.
    McRae had 2-G & 1-A and Jenks 1-G & 2-A for a pair of 3-P nights.
Matt Hackett made 33-SV for Plymouth and Robin Lehner 25 for The Soo.
SSM out-shot Plymouth in two of the three periods, excepting the turnaround 2nd-Per

The Greyhounds went 1-for-5 and Plymouth 0-for-4 on the power play.

QUOTEBOOK...

WHALERS FWD RYAN HAYES:   "We’re playing well as a team. We have a lot of depth.
Tyler’s [Seguin] a fine player in his own right, but he’s got great linemates and I have
great linemates and the whole team did well in this series...You can see by the result
of this series that everyone wants to win and everyone contributed to the success
of this series."

OVERTIME:

The Whalers don't yet know who they'll face in the second round, which should begin
next weekend.
