@ PALACE OF AUBURN HILLS:

The Pistons raced to a 56-40
halftime lead and held the visitors
almost even after intermission to
post a 101-87 Friday night win over
Washington.
    Detroit earned just its second
victory in the last nine games while
the Wizards lost their six in a row.
The Pistons were able to run their
offense almost at will as Will Bynum
dished out a career-high of 20 assists
while subbing for still sidelined Rodney Stuckey at point guard.
Bynum's 20-A were the most by a Piston since Isiah Thomas had 21, also against
Washington, on April 12, 1985. Bynum was five shy of Kevin Porter's team record
of 25-A on March 9, 1979 vs Boston.
Bynum's 20th assist came on a Ben Gordon jumper with 3.2-sec remaining in the
game.
Tayshaun Prince, Jonas Jarebko and Rip Hamilton each scored 18-P for Detroit
and Gordon had 17-P off the bench. Jason Maxiell scored 12-P and grabbed a co-
game-high of 10-RB. Bynum had 5-P to go with his big assist night.
    Andray Blatche led Washington with a game-high 23-P and co-game-high 10-RB.
Al Thornton added 16-P, Randy Foye 11-P and Mike Miller 10-P.
The Pistons wrapped up a four game season series sweep over Washington and
are 7-1 vs the Wizards over the past two seasons.

QUOTEBOOK...

PISTONS H-COACH JOHN KUESTER:   "We did a great job with coming up with
loose balls, a great job defensively. I thought Will Bynum did a great job of getting
20 assists. He did a nice job of getting us into our offense and we had guys making
shots again. I thought we had balance scoring between our starting five, but also
having Ben Gordon play the way he did coming off the bench."

PISTONS GD WILL BYNUM:   "At the end of the first quarter, I thought I had a chance
to get Kevin Porter's [team] record of 25...I grew up watching Isiah [Thomas] play,
and to do something that he did is huge...I think my teammates wanted [the 20-A]
more than I did. I knew my buddy Ben [Gordon] would come through for me on that
last shot. We work together on that play every day in practice."

PISTONS FWD TAYSHAUN PRINCE:   "We did a good job of making some shots and
especially late in the game. I know it’s tough to be disrespectful trying to get to 20
assists when the game was in hand on the last play...It’s just a great accomplishment,
your name on a list with Isiah. We were making shots early, guys were in a good flow
...we were able to get some steals and get some loose balls and things like that and
get up the court quickly giving us the opportunities so that played a big part.”

WIZARDS H-COACH FLIP SAUNDERS:   "We got down early, we had too many turnovers
and we just couldn't get into our offense."

OVERTIME:

Bynum is the third player to reach the 20-A plateau this NBA season.
Stuckey (dizzy spells) and Ben Wallace (right knee) remained out injured for
Detroit.
Pistons CEN Kwame Brown was ejected for a 2nd-Qtr technical foul.
Detroit opens a two game road trip at Atlanta Saturday night.
