@ DENVER, CO:

The Pistons let it get away late and
lost 107-102 at Denver Friday night to
dip to 1-2 on their four game western
road trip.
With a pair of ex-Pistons playing
prominent roles, the Nuggets defeated
Detroit for the first time in almost
four years (0-for-7).
    Trailing entering the 4th-Qtr, but
ahead 93-92 on a Rip Hamilton 3-pointer
with 4:50 remaining, Detroit was outscored by Denver 13-4 in the next 3:50 and
15-9 the balance of the game.
J.R. Smith tied the game at 93 for the Nuggets when he made his second of
two free throws, then Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups took over with 7-P
each down the stretch.
Anthony put Denver ahead for good 95-93 with 3:24 left on a 4-footer for the
sixth lead change of the final quarter. He'd also add five of six free throws. Bullups
hit a jumper, a triple and a pair of charity tosses.
Former Piston sparkplug Billups had a game-high 25-P including 11-of-11 at
the foul line. Anthony added 24-P and Smith 15-P. Another ex-Piston, Aaron Afflalo
scored 14-P. Joey Graham had 13-P off the Denver bench.
    Hamilton had 20-P and Rodney Stuckey 19-P with a game-high 6-A . Reserve
Jason Maxiell scored 16-P and grabbed 8-RB. Three Pistons scored 9-P each including
Ben Wallace, who pulled down a game-high 10-RB.

QUOTEBOOK...

PISTONS H-COACH JOHN KUESTER:   "We need quality possessions. You've got to make
sure you continually get good opportunities and it just didn't happen. They clamped down
on us defensively, and we have to fight through that."

PISTONS GD RIP HAMILTON:   "It could have gone either way. Chauncey had a big shot
with that 3. We had our chances. We didn't value the ball on a couple of possessions and
they got the win."

NUGGETS FWD CARMELO ANTHONY:   "I know my record against Detroit is terrible. It's
good to get this one tonight after the grueling trip we had. We had to grind this one out."

NUGGETS GD CHAUNCEY BILLUPS:   "That's a great win for us."

OVERTIME:

Seven of Detroit's 17 turnovers came in the 4th-Qtr.
Detroit's last loss to Denver was on 3/1/2006.
The Nuggets are now 30-3 when leading after three quarters including 22-0 at
home.
Denver's Kenyon Martin sat out with a knee contusion.
The Pistons end their western swing late Saturday night at Golden State.
