    The Michigan Wolverines overcame a
sluggish first half to outscore Penn State 2-to-1
after intermission in a 64-55 Thursday night
road win.
    After shooting just 8-for-23 (34.8%) including
0-for-12 on triple tries to trail 31-16 at the break,
UofM completely reversed form by going 18-for-27
(66.7%) with 7-for-12 (58.3%) from beyond the arc
in besting the Nittany Lions 48-24 in the 2nd-H.
    DeShawn Sims led Michigan in scoring for a
second consecutive game with a game-high 25-P
on 12-of-17 shooting. Sims tied two Lions for
game-high rebounding honors with a half dozen
    UM's Laval Lucas-Perry added 16-P including four 3-balls in the 2nd-H comeback
and Manny Harris had 13-P.
    Chris Badd was the only Nittany Lion scoring in double figures with 14-P. Talor
Battle had 9-P with a game-high 5-A.
    The Wolverines earned their first win at PSU since 2/1/2006.
    Michigan is now 8-6 overall including 2-1 in the Big Ten. Penn State is 8-7, but
still winless in the conference at 0-3.



    The Findlay men's hoopsters captured their sixth straight win in an 88-65 Thursday
night romp over Wayne State.
    The decision tied the Oilers with the Warriors for first place in the GLIAC-South
at 5-2 each in the conference.
    Findlay shot 58% (29-of-50) from the field, sank 58.3% from beyond the 3-pt arc
(7-of-12), out-rebounded the visitors 31-22 and forced 19 WSU turnovers including
14 UF steals.
    Findlay's Jason Wehri (career-high) and Tyler Sparks both scored 17-P. Marcus
Parker had 13-P, Nathan Hyde 11-P and Aaron Robinson 10-P.
    Wayne's Ike Udanoh was 8-of-9 shooting to match the 17-P of the UF duo and
Udanoh also grabbed a game-high 8-RB. Reserve Mike Hollingsworth was the only
other Warrior in double figures with 10-P.
    Findlay improved to 9-3 overall and Wayne State dipped to 7-4.



    Oakland stayed unbeaten in Summit LGE men's basketball with a tight 67-64
Thursday night road win at Oral Roberts.
    OU had a slim 35-33 halftime lead before expanding their bulge to 11-P in the 2nd-H.
After Oral Roberts closed to within a single point, Ledrick Eackles of the Golden
Grizzlies scored seven of his dozen points in the final 1:50. Eackles' only triple of
the contest boosted Oakland back up 58-54. Eackles then added two free throws
with 26-sec left and made a layup with 12-sec remaining for a 66-61 margin.
    Dominique Morrison sank a 3-ball for the Golden Eagles with 6.6-sec to play to
put the score at 66-64. OU's Larry Wright split a pair of free throws when he was
fouled on the in-bounds pass. OR's Kyron Stokes then missed a 22-foot try to tie
as time expired.
    Johnathon Jones had a team-high 16-P for Oakland and a game-high 4-A. Derick
Nelson scored 14-P. Keith Benson added 13-P, 8-RB and a game-high 5-BLK.
    Morrison had a game-high 19-P  as all five Oral Roberts starters reached double
figures. Stokes and Kevin Ford both had 11-P with Ford pulling down a game-high 9-RB.
Ken Holdman and Michael Craion each scored 10-P.
    Oakland is 10-7 overall and 4-0 in the Summit LGE. Oral Roberts is 8-8 and 3-2.
