Wayne State overcame a 6-P defecit with an 11-0 late
1st-H run, then gradually pulled away in the 2nd-H to score
a 65-48 men's basketball win over Northern Michigan
Thursday night.
Bryan Wright went 7-for-11 from the field including 3-of-5 from beyond the 3-point arc
plus was 3-for-3 at the free throw line to lead the Warriors with a game-high of 20-P. Jerry
Oden added 16-P and Ike Udanoh 12-P with a game-high 8-RB. Bryan Smothers (4-P) had a
game-high 5-A.
Mylan Murphy and reserve Marc Renelique were the only Wildcats in double figures with
12-P each.
Wayne State went to 3-1 in the GLIAC and 5-3 overall. NMU is 1-3 and 3-4. Wayne swept
the home-&-home regular season series with Northern and has a share of the GLIAC-South
lead with Northwood.

In the first half of the doubleheader NMU defeated the Wayne women 67-57.

Oakland University opened a two game Pacific coast road trip with a 77-68
men's hoops win at Seattle late night Thursday.
OU led most of the way to hand Redhawks their first home defeat (4-1). Seattle
did rally to go ahead a number of times in the 2nd-H, but a Golden Grizzlies closing
run of 17-3 erased a 65-60 defecit. Keith Benson's dunk with 1:16 to play put Oakland
ahead to stay 69-67.
Larry Wright had a game-high 21-P for the Grizzlies while Benson added 16-P with
a game-high 16-RB. Johnathon Jones and reserve Drew Maynard both had 10-P.
Cervante Burrell and Chris Gweth each scored 14-P for Seattle. Alex Jones came
off the bench to get 13-P and Aaron Broussard had 10-P.
Oakland is now 6-5 and Seattle 6-6.
