@ COMPUWARE ARENA:

Jamie Devane scored twice, Garrett Meurs and A.J. Jenks
both had a goal and three assists and back-up goalkeeper Scott
Wedgewood made 35-SV to earn his first ever OHL shutout as
the Whalers routed Saginaw 8-0 Saturday night.
Plymouth scored four times in the opening period and coasted
thereafter.
The Whalers had an easy time of it even though their leading scorer Tyler Seguin
and top goaltender Matt Hackett were both at Canada's National Junior selection
camp in Regina, SK.
It took just 1:09 for Tyler J. Brown (#4) to get the Whalers on the board. Jenks
(#13, a PPG) and Devane twice (#2 & #3) also scored in the 1st-Per. Ryan Hayes (#5)
got the lone middle frame goal. Michal Jordan (#8, a PPG), Robbie Czarnik (#3) and
Meurs (#9, a PPG) completed the romp with 3rd-Per markers.
Jordan has scored goals in five straight games and was one of a half dozen
Whalers with multi-point nights Saturday.
Spirit goalie Edward Pasquale faced 54-SOG.
Plymouth completed a 2-0 weekend homestand.
The Whalers will open a 3-day, 3-game, pre-Christmas break road trip Thursday
night at Peterborough.
