@ CALIHAN HALL:

    The Detroit Titans out-shot the
Western Michigan Broncos 86-80 in
UDM's men's basketball home opener
Sunday.
UDM hit at a 51% clip from the field
(26-of-51), forced 18 WMU turnovers and held the Broncos to just 3-of-17 on outside
shooting.
Highlighted by a pair of triples from Chase Simon, Detroit went on a 15-2/mid-2nd-H
run that blew a open close contest (that was 58-55).
Simon had a career-high 22-P while Eli Holman had his first career double-double
with a career-high 16-P and a game-high 12-RB. Woody Payne scored 11-P and Xavier
Keeling 10-P.
David Kool had a game-high 29-P for Western with Flenard Whitfield adding 16-P
and Martelle McLemore 12-P.
The Broncos kept in the contest by going 23-of-39 at the free throw line.
Detroit is 1-1 and Western 0-1.

QUOTEBOOK...

UDM H-COACH RAY McCALLUM:   "There is a lot of excitement in that locker room.
I would say it was a good win and it was an important game for us to put 40 minutes
together. That was our goal after playing 24 good minutes at Cal [in the season opener]
and that helped us get ready for this game."

UDM CEN ELI HOLMAN:   "After a loss like that at Cal, a good team comes back and
focus on the next game and that is what we did."

OVERTIME:

The 86-P scored by the Titans were the most by Detroit since getting 92-P at
Buffalo and 91-P at home vs Milwaukee in 2007.
The Calihan Hall crowd of 3,840 was the largest in recent years.
