After blowing an early 13-P lead,
then trailing by 10-P, the Pistons
staged a 4th-Qtr comeback for a
106-103 Saturday night win in
The Wizards were still ahead 95-89
with 5:04 remaining, but a Detroit
defensive clamp-down yielded just one
more field goal the rest of the way, a
meaningless 3-pointer by Gilbert Arenas
with just 1.9-sec to play.
    Ben Gordon scored a game-high 29-P
for Detroit, including a dead-eye 5-of-8 shooting from behind the 3-point line. Charlie
Villanueva added 25-P before he fouled out late in the fourth quarter. Will Bynum had
20-P and Rodney Stuckey 17-P.
Six Wizards scored in double figures led by newly acquired vet Earl Boykins (Eastern
Michigan alum) and injury returnee Mike Miller, who both had 20-P. Arenas scored 19-P
with a game-high 10-A. Caron Butler had 16-P with 9-RB. Andray Blatche scored 13-P
and grabbed a game-high 11-RB. Brendan Haywood contributed 11-P.
Detroit won a season's-best third in a row to get over the .500-mark at 5-4.
Washington's sixth consecutive defeat put the Wizards at 2-7.

PISTONS H-COACH JOHN KUESTER:   "What a gutsy win in having a big lead, losing
the lead, them playing with a lot of confidence and us not losing our confidence.
That's why this is a special group...Will [Bynum] took over a lot of times offensively,
by either scoring the bucket or getting someone else the chance to score."

PISTONS GD BEN GORDON:   "The thing I like about this team is, we keep chipping
away. We don't hang our heads. We don't make excuses. We play hard, and that
got us back in the game."

PISTONS FWD CHARLIE VILLANUEVA:   "They came out with a run in the third quarter
and we stayed poised...We fought hard and pulled out a gutsy win. We didn't feel
like we were ever out of it."

WIZARDS GD EARL BOYKINS:   "It's easier playing with Gil [Arenas] because he's
someone that I know. I have to develop the same kind of chemistry with the other
guys. It's all basketball. No matter when you join a team everyone basically runs the
same plays. It's just a matter of getting comfortable with my teammates."

Detroit continued without injured Richard Hamilton (ankle) and Tayshaun
Prince (back). Washington's injured list included Antawn Jamison (who has yet to
play this seasion due to a right shoulder subluxation) and Randy Foye (ankle).
Miller had missed the last three Washington games with a shoulder injury.
