@ COMERICA PARK:

    Joe Mauer stroked an opposite
field 2rHR (#20) with 1-out in the
T-1st and the rout was on, an 11-0
Minnesota Saturday night spanking
of the Tigers.
    Mauer ewent 2-for-4 with 3-RBI
to lead a Twins attack that also
included a 5-for-5, 2B, 3-R, RBI
effort by Minny lead-off man Denard
Span.
Minnesota scored 5-R/5-ER on 7-H & 2-W with 6-K off Tiger starter Justin
Verlander (L, 12-6). Just back from 3A Toledo, Chris Lambert was pasted for
6-R/6-ER on 7-H & 2-W in just 1.2-IP.
The game was in doubt until Minnesota combined for 8-R in the 6th, 7th &
8th innings.
Carl Pavano had an easy Twins debut. Traded from Cleveland on Friday for
the infamous player-to-be-named-later, Pavano threw 7-IP to scatter 5-H & 0-W
with 5-K for the win (10-8). It was Pavano's fourth victory vs Detroit in four tries
this season and the second in seven days with two different teams.
Pavano's only close call was in the B-2nd when Detroit loaded the bases with
1-out and the score was still 2-Nil. However, Pavano struck-out Adam Everett and
got Curtis Granderson to groundout to end the threat.
By going 2-for-4, Magglio Ordonez was the only Tiger with multiple basehits.

    MINN     11-15-0, 5-LOB     (W) Pavano, 10-8
