@ ST. LOUIS, MO:

    Detroit Tiger Brandon Inge
registered a big fat zero in the
opening round of Monday night's
MLB All-Star "Homerun Derby."
    Hometown favorites Albert
Pujols of the Cardinals and St.
Louis native Ryan Howard of the
Philadelphia Phillies were not
around for the finish either.
    Milwukee Brewers 1Bman Prince
Fielder, who grew up in Metro
Detroit, defeated Texas Rangers
OFielder Nelson Cruz 6-5 in the Finals
to win the glorified longball contest.
Fielder had the two longest homeruns of the competition, a 497-footer in the
first round and a 503-foot shot in the semis.
Inge became the eighth contestant to get skunked since the current format was
adopted in 1996.

EXTRA INNINGS:

In his first minor league injury rehab appearance for the Single-A Lakeland
Flying Tigers Monday night, DLed Tigers LFielder Carlos Guillen (right shoulder)
went 0-for-3 while playing DH from the lead-off spot in the line-up.
Lakeland had only 2-H in a 7-0 loss at Brevard County.
