@ WINDSOR, ONT:

A three-goal middle period propelled the Windsor
Spitfires to a 5-2 Thursday night win over the Whalers.
The Spits lead Plymouth 3-2 in the Best-of-7 OHL Western Conference semis and can wrap
up the series in six games if they win Saturday night at Compuware Arena.
Windsor had five different goal scorers and Scott Timmins (#2) got what proved to be
the game-winner, a power play goal at 16:06/2 for the third Spits marker of the 2nd-Per.
Matt Caria (#8) quickly countered with a Plymouth PPG at 17:15/2 to get the Whalers
within 3-2. It stayed that close until Windsor tallied twice in less than a minute late in the
3rd-Per on goals by Greg Nemisz (#6) at 17:37/3 and Justin Shugg (#2) at 18:28/3.
Taylor Hall (#9) and Rob Kwiet (#4) got Windsor's first two goals at 3:27/2 and 8:12/2,
Kwiet's PPG tying the contest at 2-all.
R.J. Mahalak (#1) had given the Whalers an early 1-0 edge at 8:16/1.
Matt Hackett was pelted again in the Plymouth nets, making 55-SV on 60-SOG.  Scott
Wedgewood relieved Hackett for the final minute and made 1-SV. Meantime, the Whalers
had only 9-SOG through the first 40-mins and only 22-SOG in the game against Spits goaler
Andrew Engelage.
