@ TIFFIN, OH:     Wayne State topped Tiffin
57-43 Saturday afternoon. That gave the
men's basketball Warriors their first back-to-
back conference road wins in almost four
years.
Although downtrodden Tiffin resides in the
GLIAC standings basement, the Wayne win
didn't come easy. WSU had to overcome a 14-1 start by the Dragons. Wayne
closed the 1st-H on a 14-4 run to take a 25-24 intermission advantage. The
Warriors then spurted 17-10 to make it 42-34 by midway through the 2nd-H.
    Wayne out-shot Tiffin 41% (17-of-42) to 35% (17-of-49) from the field and
maintained control of the game with a 41-23 rebounding advantage.
Wayne's Bryan Wright was game-high with 21-P and Shane Lawal added 13-P
with 8-RB & 5-BL. Bryan Smothers scored 9-P.
Brian Scott and Darryle Miller topped TU with 9-P each and Rafael Cuellar
had 8-P.
WSU improved to 10-14 overall including 8-12 in the GLIAC. Tiffin is now just
2-23 overall and 1-19 in GLIAC play.

@ INDIANAPOLIS, IN:     Oakland hung on for an 81-76 victory at IUPUI Saturday
evening to conclude their regular season men's hoops road schedule.
OU led by as many as 20-P until the Jaguars staged a furious comeback try.
With 4:31 remaining the Golden Grizzlies were still up 77-61. A 3-pointer by Adrian
Moss started a 13-0 IUPUI run to get within one possession at 77-74 with 1:30 to play.
Oakland's Blake Cushingberry sank a pair of free throws with 22-sec left and Erik
Kangas made two more with 13-sec remaining to clinch the win before the Jags'
Robert Glenn went for style points on a buzzer-beating but meaningless dunk.
Cushingberry was game-high with his new career-high of 24-P. Keith Benson
had 18-P and Kangas 17-P. Will Hudson had 8-P with a game-high 9-RB and Johnathon
Jones (5-P) passed around a game-high 15-A  to tie his career-high. Junior Jones has
65-A over his past five games for 528 in his career to move into second place in school
history (Mychal Covington, 514 from 1998-2002).
Glenn came off the bench to lead the Jaguars with 18-P. LeRoy Nobles had 16-P
and Jon Avery & Adrian Moss both added 14-P.
Oakland's fifth consecutive victory gave them an 18-11 overall and 11-5 Summit
LGE record. IUPUI is now 15-13 and 8-9.

@ NASHVILLE, TN:     Tennessee State edged the UDM men's Titans 78-75 Saturday
night in one of the non-conference "ESPNU Bracket Buster" pairings.
The TN-State Tigers are now a perfect 4-0 under interim coach Mark Pittman in
the 15 days since sixth year coach Cy Alexander was fired.
The two teams shot a combined 56% from the field in a contest with eight ties
and seven lead changes. UDM out-scored their hosts 5-1 in the final 1:06, but it
wasn't enough.
Five Tigers scored in double figures led by Jarrell Houston, who had a game-
high 17-P and a co-game-high 6-RB. Jeremiah Crutcher had 16-P with a game-high
of 8-A. Parker Smith had 14-P, Gerald Robinson 13-P and Darius Cox 10-P for
Tennessee State.
Michael Harrington came off the Detroit bench to top the Titans with 14-P.
Eulis Stephens added 13-P. Chris Hayes had 10-P and a co-game-high 6-RB.
Tennessee State is 10-17 overall while Detroit fell to 7-20.
