COACH KURT AT LARGE.....F, 7/28/17

GONE<<

    It's 100 down and 62 to go.

If the last three Tiger games
vs Kansas City are any indication,
it'll be a painful final two months
plus a week to finish the 2017
season.

After the anticipation of the July 31st trade deadline passes, Detroit
fans will turn their attention to the Lions (who will also frustrate them
this fall).

Who thought Miguel Cabrera would have only a dozen homers and a
.257-BA during the Tigers' final July homestand?  With each passing game
the normally outgoing Miggy displays more open anger and frustration
at his worst big league season ever.  The former Triple Crown winner and
MVP is a shell of his former self and has played hurt since the World
Baseball Classic in March.

With the maybe-about-to-be-traded former ace Justin Verlander as
Detroit's second best pitcher behind All-Star Michael Fulmer, who is
the third best Tiger starter?

Jordan Zimmermann, Anibal Sanchez?  Matt Boyd?  None of the
above?

The team's two pleasant surprises in OFielders Mikie Mahtook
and Alex Presley have been fun to watch the last two months, but
neither is a difference maker.

The baserunning blunders by Mahtook and Jose Iglesias in the last
two games of the Kansas City sweep are evidence the players are
cracking under the losing strain.

The problems begin in the front office where VP/GM Al Avila
has made a laundry list of key personnel mistakes.  It extends to the
dugout where MGR Brad Ausmus continues to make maddening in-game
decisions.  It ends in the late innings where the Tiger bullpen roster has
been a disaster for more than a decade.

Only promoted-to-closer Justin Wilson has been solid out of the 'pen,
and he's about to be traded.

Want cheap sports entertainment between now and the home finale
on September 24th?  Check the secondary ticket market where season
ticketholders are dumping seats for pennies on the dollar.
